Breast Ultrasound

Breast ultrasound is a valuable secondary examination for breast disease, after mammography. Breast ultrasound may be used when a questionable or suspicious area shows up on a mammogram. Ultrasound is also commonly used after mammography in women who have breast implants, in those with “dense” breasts, or in women who are able to feel an abnormaltiy in their breast.

Mammography and breast ultrasound together provide complimentary clinical information about the health of your breasts, because they produce different kinds of pictures of the breast tissue.
